Chapter 1 of my Novel!

This is the story I'm writing because I want to send it to an editor and if he/she likes it then they will publish it and I could get $21,000.  I learned this from Roald Dahl's book's "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More" in the chapter "Lucky Break-How I Became a Writer."  This is just my rough draft of the first chapter.
Chapter 1

I had just bought a bathtub that was painted gold.  It was an old fashioned claw foot tub that workers had installed golden fixtures to.  There were two faucets, the one on the left was the hot and the one on the right was cold.  If you mixed them together you would eventually get something just right!  There were some carvings on the front side of the bathtub.  They looked similar to Egyptian hieroglyphics but somehow were unique.    The bathtub was so golden it glittered and gleamed when the sunlight hit it just right.  I was thinking of taking a bath early that day because I was so excited to try out my new bathtub but I realized I was completely out of soap.  So I decided to make some soap from an old family recipe I had received from Grandmother, who got it from her Grandmother, who got it from her Grandmother, who . . .well it was really old.

Oh! Sorry! My name is Lucy, I just wanted to share with you my very true, very amazing story.  I'm 52 years old now but this story happened when I was 23.  I'm a baker of fine wedding cakes and everyone comes to me to because I'm known for having the best tasting wedding cakes ever.  Now, back to the story.   I chose to make the family soap recipe because it made beautiful golden colored soap that would match my golden tub.  The recipe is kind of a secret but I'll tell you a few ingredients.  First, I make a basic soap recipe then I added 2 cups of vinegar and a secret ingredient that when combined with all the other ingredients turns the soap into a golden soft soap.

After making the soap, I climbed into the bathtub.  I filled it up all the way past my belly button and added lots of bubbles and settled in for a relaxing afternoon.   For about five minutes I relaxed, then I got the soap and smothered it all over myself.  It was soft and the golden soap sent sort of a tingle all over my body.  Suddenly, I slipped, and my head went the under!  Luckily I was a pretty good swimmer.  I doggy-paddled to the surface.  But . . .where was I?  You can't doggy-paddle in a bathtub! I looked around and noticed that the once bubbly, clear water was now green and foamy, and when I looked up I saw a yellow sky instead of my bathroom light fixture.  The clouds were pink and fluffy like delicious cotton candy, and . . .wait! Was that an island?!  I peered to the west and noticed a little dot of land. It was blue, but still, it appeared to be an island!  I swam and swam and swam, until I felt so exhausted I thought I might sink into the depths of the green water.  I doggy-paddled my tired arms toward the island and finally my feet touched the something solid and crumbly.  I stepped out of the water onto the blue sand.  It wasn't like normal sand, it felt firm and when I picked it up it was like a cupcake, sort of crumbly but firm also.  Where was I?

Sentence Classification

I finally learned how to classify all 8 parts of speech and it's the only part of language arts I really like,  I guess writing isn't so bad but I really want to just write a book, my mom says I have a shot at being an author if I learn to write correctly.  I wish I could write faster then I could keep up with my thoughts I want to write.

Book ReTell: Freckle Juice by Judy Blume

I recently read a library book called "Freckle Juice" by Judy Blume.  "Freckle Juice" is about a boy named Andrew who wants freckles but doesn't know how to get them.  A girl named Sharon told him that she had a secret recipe for freckle juice that would make sure he got freckles.  At school Andrew gave Sharon fifty cents and in return she gave him the freckle juice recipe.  He ran home and made the freckle juice and made a BIG MESS!  He drank it and at that moment he felt very, very tired.  He went to sleep and in the morning he was sick and his mom told him he had appendicitis. He was very very mad at Sharon because he was sick and still didn't have any freckles.  When he went to school the next day he used a blue magic marker to put dots all over his face and body.  The teacher at school gave him a special recipe to get rid of the freckles.  "TURN ON WATER.  WET MAGIC FRECKLE REMOVER AND RUB INTO FACE.  RINSE.  IF MAGIC FRECKLE REMOVER DOES NOT WORK FIRST TIME . . .TRY AGAIN.  THREE TIMES SHOULD DO THE JOB.  MISS KELLY"  After Andrew got back in the classroom Nicky said to someone that she hated her freckles and Sharon heard her, she whispered to her that she had a secret recipe for removing freckles that had been in the family for years and she said she said she'd sell it to her for fifty cents. . .WHAT?!  That is the crazy story of "Freckle Juice."

My Thoughts on Hero Dogs

Dog Heroes : A Nonfiction Companion to Magic Tree House No. 46 ...

I recently read a book called "Dog Heroes." It is a Magic Treehouse Fact Tracker book.  Did you know that humans and dogs have been together for thousands of years?  Scientists even found a skeleton of a girl resting her hand on her dog!  SAR dogs help people who have experienced tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes and other disasters.  These dogs can smell things from the air and from the ground, the air leaves scents and the ground leaves skin cells that contain the scents.  Dogs are actually very close relatives of wolves, as are dingoes, African wild dogs, jackals, and coyotes.  People can breed together certain dogs like a poodle and a German shepherd to create a German Sheeppoodle.  Dogs are used for comfort and for work all over the world.  In Alaska they work as sled dogs and for comfort.  Many dogs work in the military and many are just for kids to have fun!  Well see you next time!
